For the most part, the legendary Super Soaker CPS 2000 is the most powerful water gun ever produced on a mass scale. In 1996 the Super Soaker first made its appearance and was manufactured by Larami Ltd. which is now owned by Hasbro Inc.

The Super Soaker could shoot 50 feet and had a 30-ounce per-second output that performance is still unequaled till today. They are yet to release another more powerful gun till this date which makes the Super Soaker the best of all time.

What are the best water guns?

When looking at water guns you must understand that are different guns like pistols, shooters, cannons, and jets all offering their unique features. The best water gun would be the one that best suits your needs. So whatever your preference maybe make sure the water gun you choose has the capabilities to do what you want.

If you are looking for a small but fun gun then the pistol ranges would be ideal for kids between 3-5. They fill up easily and do not take much of directional information to use. You just simply press the trigger and the pistol squirts a minimal amount of water without too much damage.

Shooters are best if you are more tactical minded and are better for kids aged 4-7. They offer a greater gallon capacity than normal water guns and they have a more centered water concentration when fired.

What is a water gun?

A water gun is an entertaining toy typically used in the summer months for kids who want to have countless hours of fun in a water battle with friends. These water guns come in all shapes and sizes and a myriad of colors.

The guns have been prominent in the last 20-25 years since its inception in the toy market. The water guns work on a simple premise of pump and shoot – and trigger and shoot actions. They are easy to fill with water and some can be used with foam chemicals for some added fun.

Does Super Soaker still exist?

Unfortunately, the Super Soak range only existed in 1991-2009 a very significant part that led to its demise was the emergence of Nerf Super Soaker. Since the early days they have relied on performance, capacity, and power but what made them popular then was taken for granted in their later years.

In the early 2000s – 2002s they began with a more gimmicky approach to the Super Soaker range. It is worth mentioning that the original creators of Super Soakers (Larami Corp) became a subsidiary of Hasbro INC. this also had a major influence on how they would later determine the direction of the Super Soaker.

Their gimmick approach lets them focus more on adding additional features to guns like sound effects and lights. It is not to say that there weren’t gimmicky water guns in the past but it was viewed as a sideline approach to their performance, power, and capacity draw-card water guns.

This trend of Electronic-Enhanced-Soaking continued through to 2009. In 2010 however, the line of Super Soakers was rebranded to Nerf Soakers and they still adopt the gimmicky approach to the performance, power and capacity approach.

It should be said that the Super Soaker range is still the best when it comes to performance, capacity, and power and this is not likely to change anytime soon.

Why was the Super Soaker CPS 2000 banned?

The Super Soaker was considered the rock star of the water blasting community. The fierce stood head and heals above the rest and is yet to find a blaster to compete with its power. It was released in 1996 and was the first CPS (Constant Pressure System) blaster and the largest single piece blaster of his time.

With all that power came rumors that with the immense power of the Super Soaker CPS 2000 it had the capabilities to cause permanent eye damage. However, evidence to support these claims has never manifested, but the Super Soaker was discontinued soon after these rumors.

How far can a Super Soaker shoot?

If the distance is what you are after than the cylinder based water guns will offer a fair distance of up to 70 feet. It is said that they are so powerful that if directed at someone it can hurt that person.

The pump-action Super Soakers also offer a fair distance of 38 feet. The Super Soaker ranges are diverse so you will get different distances from different products.

There are just too many water guns to choose from and finding a formidable one that ticks all the boxes is a question dependant on what boxes you need ticked. Back in the day, this answer would have been easy with the super soaker range. The best gun according to me is the Super Soaker CPS 2000 and if you are lucky to find one of these gems you have found a great item from a bygone era.

What happened to super soakers?

The journey of the Super Soaker range is a story of sticking to what you good at. They started in 1989 and soon took over the market from the battery-operated water guns. They offered more power and water capacity without the use of batteries that had a pitiful performance anyway.

During the 90s they produced some brilliant water guns like the Super Soaker 50s range, Super Soaker CPS 1000, Super Soaker CPS 3000 and the iconic Super Soaker CPS 2000. All of them were great water guns in their own right but none as prominent as the Super Soaker CPS 2000 who to this day is arguably the most powerful water gun ever made.

After the prominence of the CPS 2000 in 1996, they continued to dominate the market with the Super Soaker Monster XL and other smaller models. It is only when they started to shift from their tried and tested methods that made them popular in the early and late 90s that the new decade would have resistance to their style.

The years that followed 2000-2009 are where their focused shifted from power, capacity, and performers to more of a gimmicky approach. They were more worried about adding lights and sounds to the water guns. They finally changed the brand name from Super Soaker to Nerf and this signaled the end of an era for the Super Soaker brand.
